beginning Dad had been home from work for a few hours when I could hear a noise in the kitchen, as a typical 10 year old I went to investigate. dad was preparing a flask of tea and some sandwiches, I knew he was getting ready to go fishing, I was excited as he said I could go with him. Dad put the gear into the car, three rods and a small rucksack, and we set off. We went via Edmonton to pick up dads work mate, I remember he had a look of anticipation on his face, he got in and we drove to Enfield Lock, we unloaded the car and set off on foot. It was quite dark by this time and dad made sure that I didn't walk next to the river, I was a bit scatty then and probably would have fallen in. After walking for about 5 mins we had to climb over a fence, then I was lowered down a wall to another part of the river. Dad and he's friend set up the rods and started to fish for barbel, I didn't help matters by eating most of the luncheon meat. It wasn't long before dad had a run, I watched him wrestle with the fish it seemed like ages, dad eventually landed the barbel and it weighed about 8lb. Dad and his mate caught a few barbel each that night, and I will never forget the power of one of dads favorite fish. Forefront Edward Parrott and his son Darren founded Edwards the Anglers Store, after spending more than forty years between them on the river bank and meeting other anglers who love this sport. Edward and his son Darren say that they try to give good advice to their website visitors, and say that they are not above learning from there website visitors in return, and believe that the knowledge they have and what they learn from their visitors, make each new fishing outing a new, enjoyable and learned experience. What's going on now? We ran our high street shop for ten years, up to the point where Edward retired. Our main goal after the closure of the shop is to continue to build and enhance this award winning website. (we have been running our website now since 1998) A big thank you We would like to give a very warm Thank you to all of our high street shop customers that we had the pleasure to meet over the ten years we were trading. And also to you, our very important website visitors, safe in the knowledge that the 1fish staff will continue to maintain and enhance this website to the high standard with attention to detail that you have become accustomed to since we first published this website in 1999. Thank you once again. |
