EDMONTON & TOTTENHAM
ANGLING SOCIETY

......Founded in 1872
Affiliated to the London Anglers Association, Waltham Abbey Anglers Consortium, Anglers Conservation Association, Turnford Anglers Consortium, Paynes Lane Consortium, Lea Anglers Consortium, Enfield Anglers Council.

The Edmonton & Tottenham Angling Society was originally established in 1872 and is probably one of the oldest angling clubs in London; it is certainly one of the oldest clubs in the L.A.A. and is one of the biggest too.

The society has an active junior section that is open to all youngsters over the age of twelve, but there is no age restriction to youngsters who have relatives in the club. Many of their senior members have come up “through the ranks” via the junior section, and they believe that this is part of the future of their club.

The society does not own any fisheries, but belongs to consortiums so in this way it helps to control waters which include Woodlands Lake at Forty Hall in Enfield, The old River Lea and Cornmill Stream at Waltham Abbey, Paynes Lane Fishery at Nazeing, Turnford Lakes at Wormley and the L.A.C. who control over 20 miles of the River Lea Navigation. The club is always interested in consortiums controlling local waters.

There are many trophies to be won, these range from cups and shields to plaques, most of these are won on a points system, others are for best fish or bags of fish. Since it’s formation the club has been in the semi-finals of the prestigious L.A.A. Challenge Shield five times and four times in the final. However the society has won the L.A.A. Bailiffs Trophy, Lady Morris Cup, Junior Shield, L.A.A. Officers Cup, Thames Championship and the Green Cup.

They run two coach outings each month these are on the second and forth Sundays. These outings are designed for both match and pleasure angler’s alike. For the ladies they hold a Ladies day convivial match, to either a lake or on a canal, this day is open to member’s wives or female guests.

Their meetings are held each Tuesday at 8.15pm at Galliard Road School, Galliard Road Edmonton N9. On joining the club, you will need two passport size photographs; these are for your club I.D. card and for their records.
